About Us

Our Story

The Awakening Church was formally named in April 2014, but began 10 years prior when Pastor David and Elena Reynolds moved to the Temecula Valley from the Northwest. Under their leadership and emphasis on outreach, the new church (originally named Chorus Church) grew to a vibrant community of Christ followers seeking to be on mission for Jesus. The church began by meeting in homes and elementary schools, but eventually leased facilities in a retail park across from the French Valley Regional Airport off Winchester Road.  Land for future development, if desired, was secured by the South Pacific District of The Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA) denomination on Scott Road.

Current Lead Pastor, Kerry Bowman, along with his wife, Melissa, arrived in the Temecula Valley during the fall of 2013 after David accepted a regional position to help discover, develop and deploy church planters with the C&MA.  Having lead a thriving multi-site ministry movement in the Midwest, starting as church planters themselves, Kerry and Melissa moved to the valley to continue forwarding the church mission and bringing a renewed sense of vision

Our Beliefs

Our Global Family

Partnership ministry outreach through the Christian and Missionary Alliance, Envision Ministries and local mercy and justice organizations

Because of a strong conviction that the local church has a global calling, The Awakening Church has chosen to associate with a larger body of Christian believers across the United States and around the world. The Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA) is a Christ-centered missionary denomination with the largest evangelical church in several overseas countries. Because of its global impact, but relatively small North American presence, the Dr. Billy Graham once referred to the Alliance as "the best kept secret in America". Over 2000 churches comprise The Alliance in the United States and are part of a Christ-centered global movement of 6 million strong, with over 700 missionaries in 70 countries. Our Acts 1:8 family—inspired by Jesus’ love and empowered by His Spirit—is passionate to bring the good news about Him to our neighborhoods and world. “… But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
